Health 2000 follow-up study

Health 2000 ollow-up study is a longitudinal panel study that collects data from the participants of the Health 2000 survey. The purpose of the panel study is to assess the dynamics of change of health in the Finnish population, obtain individual data on gross change and determine causal effects for health and well-being outcomes.

Coordinated by the Institute of Health and Welfare (THL), the Health 2000 follow-up study will be conceived in collaboration with multi-disciplinary specialists from this and other collaborating institutions. A core group within THL (Arpo Aromaa, Seppo Koskinen, Päivikki Koponen, Noora Kuosmanen and Sebastian Pena Fajuri) is responsible for the planning process.

Although the process is at an early stage, the core group has already started the analysis of key methodological and fieldwork issues. A draft of the survey measurements is currently underway (developed by the core group and guest experts) and is expected to be finished by mid-April 2009. A pilot study is expected to be carried out by the end of 2009.
